Love, Hope, Alone

This song was definitely inspired by Taylor Swift’s album Fearless. Sadly, there is no way I will ever sound like Taylor, but a key image for me was imagining an old building. Think of the scene in The Bourne Identity when Jason uses the dead body to drop down several stories (dark, I know, but that stairwell is pretty much what I imagine.)

I could just see Taylor running down a french stairwell and looking up at a lost love in one of her songs… so here it is.

I ran down seven floors
and turned
lookin' up
at your face peering down
upon me

All I could do was sigh
and pray you couldn't see
the tears spill down my cheeks

love is for falling
and hope is so you can do it all again
alone is to know it's over

well I hope that the door
slammed behind me
as I trudge through the dark
of my insecurity

the message machine spells empty
and the cat on the bed
doesn't recognize me

love is for falling
and hope is so you can do it all again
alone is to know it's over

I could sit for hours
by the phone
listing to the ringing
dial tone

love is for falling
and hope is so you can do it all again
alone is to know it's over
